At Winn Reading, our goal is to give children the chance to win at reading.

In 2019, our founder, Kay Limbach, was tutoring a second-grader who loved math, but due to his low reading skills, he could not read the directions on his math homework. One day, during State Testing, he had a panic attack at school because he could not read the questions asked.  No child should have a panic attack at school because he or she cannot read the questions asked.

Why Us

Literacy Mentors are the heart of Winn Reading. We are always accepting enthusiastic adults, college students and retired teachers to join us as a Literacy Mentor.

Volunteer

Winn Reading makes tutoring simple and encourages storytimes. We choose to go into schools or after-school programs, so the parent or guardian needs no extra transportation. We simply provide extra one-on-one support in a child’s reading education, helping both the student and the teacher. In collaboration with local bookstores and coffee shops, we offer read-aloud storytimes.

What We Offer

Community Involvement

See Winn Reading in action in Cincinnati.

Today a reader, tomorrow a leader.
— Margaret Fuller, American Journalist

Grounded in years of literacy expertise and inspired by the needs of our community, our mission is to improve reading skills, confidence, and enjoyment for emergent readers in Cincinnati.
